Designing an Ecommerce Experience for Discreet Treatment

Bummed is a digital health company offering online treatment for hemorrhoids, fissures, and other anorectal conditions through prescription creams delivered directly to patients. Founded by digital health entrepreneurs alongside a board-certified colorectal surgeon, the platform combines medical expertise with a direct-to-patient ecommerce model.

The challenge was to design and develop a website capable of explaining a sensitive medical topic while guiding users through a clear treatment journey. The platform needed to build trust, communicate how the consultation and prescription process works, and make it easy for patients to understand and purchase treatment online in a discreet and approachable way.

We began by restructuring the site around the patient journey rather than a traditional product catalog. The experience was designed to guide users from understanding their symptoms to starting treatment, simplifying how telehealth consultations and prescription products are presented.

Next, we redesigned the UX and UI to balance medical credibility with an approachable, stigma-free tone. The new design emphasizes clear explanations, transparent treatment options, and a structured flow that helps users understand how the consultation, prescription, and delivery process works.

Finally, we developed the new website in WordPress, creating a flexible and scalable ecommerce foundation. The platform allows the Bummed team to manage treatments, educational content, and marketing initiatives efficiently while supporting future product expansion.

The result is a modern telehealth ecommerce platform that simplifies access to specialized anorectal care. The redesigned experience connects medical information, consultation, and product purchase into a clear and intuitive flow that helps patients feel comfortable starting treatment online.
